Gamin GPS 60c
By Kev on Feb 21, 2009 | In Electronics
Not the newest but it is nearly identical to the 60cx (except mine does not have the expandable memory as the new models do. So what can this little box do the size of an old walkie talkie... surprisingly it does ALOT!!!

Follow up:
First off let me say the Garmin 60 series GPS (and similar models) are not given the credit they deserve. So I will be posting many screen shots and info on it... why well Garmin and other GPS manufacturers are dumbing down the GPS and loosing a lot of functionality (Tom Tom, Nuvi series and more ) but you are not paying ANY less.
I have the 60c first of the 60 Series, if I were in the market for another one I would go with the 60cx since the memory is expandable and the antenna is able to stay locked on the satellites better in VERY thick trees and deep canyons.
Under the screen are a whole host of buttons and a multi way joypad. Starting at the top left and following the buttons anti-clockwise the buttons and their functions are:

Zoom in: change the display scale for more detail.
Find: display the find menu, allows selection of Waypoints, Cities, Geocache, Marine, Freeway Exits etc.
Mark: create a waypoint at the current position.
Quit: generally exits the currently selected function.
Enter: Selects the currently highlighted option/function.
Menu: displays a context sensitive menu for the page you are currently viewing.
Page: cycles through the main displays (see below).
Out: change the display scale for less detail.
For a vehicle these 2 items are a must:
A solid mount...

12v Power Supply... run it off the truck it will be easier to read w/the backlight on

MAPSOURCE SOFTWARE, this way you have the topos and ability to easily program routes, caches and more from your PC. This connects using a simple USB connection.
EBAY THIS STUFF OR TIGER DIRECT!!!!! Dont go pay full price if you dont have to!!
This is a very robust GPS, its been dropped a few times and no issues what soever. It works great in the Truck and out hiking as well.
Quick note on customization - Look at the images below. Every page you see those boxes on each one of the those boxes is customizable to display what ever info you would like. You can also set the number of boxes you would like to display 1-4. For instance I have my Top down view set up to display 3 boxes (Speed, Compass Direction & Altitude). So the sky is the limit those boxes have about 45 different data output options.

MENU PAGES

NAVIGATION PAGES
Compass Page - Done Via Satellite but it is surprisingly accurate

Highway Nav Page - Not a real fan of this page because it does not show roads.

Turn By Turn - I know like this page but I just like the top down view myself

Nav Menu -

Overhead - The one I use all the time.
